Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens

These gardens were created in 1751 in the walled garden to a large house. They have expanded into a 20 acre wood in a sheltered valley that leads down to the shores of Chesil Beach in Dorset.

The walled garden and sheltered location create a microclimate that enables plants to be grown that would not normally survive in the UK. At this time of year the gardens are idyllic.
