Lesson 48 - Why '31' is not a good number for European Portuguese Speakers

Lesson 48, or Podcast 48 is absolutely full of quirky (for english speakers) expressions. Our characters are at the beach discussing how easy it is to get hornswaggled by an unknown auto-mechanic. I guess we were in the mood for podcasting as it is a little longer than usual.

Obrigado muito pelas suas explicações. Estou a aprender convosco! Acho que podemos traduzir (literalmente) a frase "afinal de contas" como "at the end of the account." Há assim uma relação em inglês entre "account" e "story" (report, tale, etc.). Então, podemos dizer "when all is said and done." Pode ser?
