Sync Google DRIVE in Linux Using Rclone

preview_player
Показать описание
In this video, I'll show you how synchronise your Google Drive in your Debian or Ubuntu based Linux file browser using Rclone and the graphical user interface application, Rclone Browser.

This will enable you to have copies of your Google Drive files on your computer and you'll be able to sync your computer with your Google Drive easily.

I’ll be doing this beginner-friendly walkthrough in MX Linux 21 XFCE but you should still be able to easily follow along regardless of the operating system you use.

IMPORTANT!
Removing the Gnome-Control-Center in Ubuntu or Ubuntu-based systems will also uninstall Ubuntu-Settings.

Wow this was awesome I was bit intimidated by the long length of the video but every minute was so worth it. Thank you so much.

I discovered this channel a few days before, and I find the way information is present here very helpful but most importantly, well documented. It's great how complicated tasks are done easily and seemingly effortless.
Thak you!

Very solid introduction, considering all typical use cases and everyday tasks. I like the hands-on approach, makes me want to jump right into the action. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much. This was the one thing I missed in Linux and now not anymore. You are very clear as a teacher!

I appreciate the effort of each step! I've used Linux for years but I'm not a power-user [yet!] and I wouldn't have considered checking for forks for newer versions, thank you!

Also when your Key-bind combos come up, is that edited in post or is there a program that will announce when you use keyboard shortcuts?

I could not have connected my Onedrive to MX Linux without your help! Thanks ever so much This type of help reflects the very best of the web and "hackers" (the true hackers that is).

So you always have to press download or upload just to sync changes?

How about for mount unless you unmount it does it automatically reflect changes from drive to pc and vice versa?

Thanks for the video. Rclone browser really helped a lot more than the termial experience of rclone. It was easier to navigate and explained in a crystal clear way which made quite a difference.

Thank you, it is a great resource. I wanted to sync a local folder to a shared folder on Google Drive and use the local fodler as a vault in Obisidian. This is exactly what I needed: it's free, you can pull the remote vault and you can push your updates, then everything is visible on other devices synced to the GD as well.
A note: it might go without saying, but I was rather puzzled for the first time. If you want to use this to have a local, persisted copy of your GD folder, you only want to create the download and upload tasks. You definitely don't want to mount the remote folder to your local one. Otherwise, your "local files" are going to be gone upon restart.

Very informative and detailed video, but still down to the point without unnecessary blabla. Followed this tutorial step by step and it worked like a charm.

One question that wasn't addressed:

How can I automate the tasks? In an ideal world I wouldn't want to manually execute the Sync Download/Upload tasks in order to sync my offline folder. Can this be automated to run every X minutes when I'm connected to a wifi?

Excelent tutorial. I wish every linux tutorial was like this, the adoption rate would be much higher.

Never bothered working with rsync/rclone that much, but lately it's become more relevant when years of configuration and tinkering dispears due to computer failure, whish force me starting over from scratch. I'll shall consider setting this up.

Love the video. A simple and straightforward introduction to Rclone for new users.

Also, it might be interesting to look at in a future video but there's a community spin of MX Linux called AVL-MXE geared towards video and audio recording.

I like your videos. I also use MX Linux KDE. Recently I have unsubscribed from DistroTube and Chris Titus Tech because they are gibberish talk. But you have useful and in-depth tutorials and videos. Good job sir 👍
