Have the 8/9 "light salmon" model. Fits my 12, 6 - 13, 6 8wt rods perfectly. As said, this is a dh reel. Caught my biggest atlantic salmon on this one. The drag is just a joke, but it prevents overrun. I'm quite happy with my reel, but you have to lubricate when you are of season....

Could you use the 8 9 on a 15 foot rod

Last time one guy mentioned that company when Ben was talking about Hardy reels, and he was struck by lightening. He is now crippled for life. Don’t do that! ⚡️⚡️⚡️

Hi Trident. The classic look is and craftsmanship is really nice - and that’s about it with this one. Too much $ for a modern old fashioned reel that another make/model would definitely be a better choice. I’m sure you’ve heard of 3-Tand reels, perhaps they’d be worth a good try out and subsequent review.

Whatever they try to tell you, just buy a Danielson and be happy, the rest of your days.
