While in Mondstadt, Aether and Paimon come across Venti telling a story about the leader of the abyss from the destruction of Khaenri’ah, 500 years ago. Little did Aether know, Venti was talking about his twin sister, Lumine. However, Aether had to find out the hard way.

This is so cool! I have a theory:
All the archons do know lumine, but not as the leader of the abyss. I think that lumine met all the archons and traveled around teyvat with paimon too. When completing their journey, they went to mondstadt and liyue again, having heard and seen a lot of the abyss. Lumine then joined the abyss, in thinking that the people and archons were wrong. Part of this was due to the disasters that, at the time, weren’t solved. These disasters made the archons look bad. (The vision hunt decree in inazuma, the dragon casually attacking mondstadt every day and the Anemo archon not being very connected with mondstadt, etc. lumine then worked her way up the abyss, and eventually became leader. She then abandoned paimon and fled the scene, also brainwashing her, which is why we never get an explaination on how she was in the water. As this is happening, aether wakes up and is hungry- obviously! So his first instinct is to start fishing for food, when he found paimon. That’s also the origin to why he calls her emergency food. But that’s just my theory.
