Best way to hit a tight gap though. I really like putting an under stable disc on an almost extreme hyzer and ripping it watch it flip to flat with a little fade and the finishing almost straight

Somebody already mentioned it but wanted to have another comment saying that you counteract this by tilting your upper body instead, keeping your actual throwing angle technically flat no matter what disc you're throwing

My arm speed doesn’t want to graduate. It just keeps getting held back grade after grade lol

Is someone who very very rarely uses forehand as a throw, I carry quite a few understable discs. Knowing how to use understable discs can be extremely beneficial.

See I've always been taught the opposite by the local pros. I was initially told to start with neutral putters and mids and then got understable drivers and I'm glad I did because it taught me how to throw angles better and to let the disc do the work and not just rely on forcing an overstable disc. Nowadays I have both understable and overstable because they both have their place. If you watch KJ he throws a lot of floppy stuff.

Hm. Can't say I agree with how this was worded. Reaching back low tends to be nose up. Hyzer and nose up isn't necessarily hand in hand. The reason for a hyzer flip is that you can throw it on 15 degree to 35k degrees on hyzer and the disc will flip to flat and hold. So you get consistency even if you miss the hyzer angle a bit. That's how to hit the gap, nearly every time

I’ve never really thought about this. I’ve been practicing my hyzer just so I can get better at being consistent

Thats just not true. When you throw hyzer you dont change the angle of your arm. You change the angle in your upper body. Your arm stays the same relative to your upper body no matter what angle you throw.

This is not the greatest advice. its not bad advice but someone newer should continue to throw that understable disc and learn how to control their power instead of "Graduating" to a disc that requires more power. this is what the pros do and thus they are able to finesse an understable putter and mid to get the flight they want.

Before beveled edge discs, the distance throws were basically vertical hyzers, they threw them as high as they could so they flipped to flat and coasted straight. Overstability is a modern invention!

You should still throw them though. Great for woods, dog leg right. Or long straight shots that can't fade much.

I used to own lots of discs with a -1 up to -4 turn, but thanks to the Firebird my arm speed went up tremendously. Now I don't own any discs with any turn. Just one mid-range for tree gap shots maybe.

Good advice, also always try to work towards throwing the disc flat, if you're throwing the same shot all of the time, you will be more consistent. This is why they make disks that do the work for you.

My problem as a beginner is that I bought 4 over stable drivers cause I didn’t know and they just looked cool

Ive been playing for a few years now, and i still have absolutely no idea to know WHAT my arm speed is...most of my play is just by instinct and feeling vs knowing what's actually correct

I don’t know man. Reaching back low is almost never a bad thing. Look at most pros. 99% of issues with reach back height are that they are too high. Also, you don’t have to reach back lower to throw more hyzer. You just lean forward. Reaching back lower is for throwing higher, not more hyzer.

That’s why I waste hundreds of dollars on discs and backups of those discs, and then I get better at throwing, and want more and more stability. Lol. I have so many understable discs that will fly a mile straight. I’m overshooting holes like a dumbass even though the throws look like ace runs gone bad instead of park jobs.
