Just imagine how many really skilled drivers never even get seen because of the money barrier. I bet we'd have new champions across the board if not for that.

Some places in the world have amazing support for rental karting that there’s almost no point going into owner karting unless you want to become a real race car driver

From what you have said and from what Ex-F1 drivers have also mentioned is that the drivers that get all the way to the F1 paddock are the ones who never grew tall, weighed more than 65kg's and never ran out of money thanks to the cash flow of their wealthy parents / business tax writes off's ecetera. Somewhere in the world there is someone walking around with more raw talent than a Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher or who ever your favorite F1 Champion is and never ever got to realise there ability. I doubt Jack Doohan would not be were he is if his father was not who he is.

Just start by doing practice sessions, as many as you can, when you have enough experience, start joining sprint races. You could also join race academies, which provides you with lots of track time. Once you’ve done loads of races, practice sessions, and progress higher into your race academy, you can become an advanced driver and then you should be ready to join championships.

I went to Daytona Milton Keynes for the first time yesterday, really reminded me of how fun karting is since I haven't done it in so long. Hopefully will be able to make it a more regular thing, shame it's so expensive though.

I started karting when i was 7 jears old in the Netherlands. My father then bought a childen's kart with a 160cc honda engine with 9 hp. With this kart iparticipated in 6 club competitons with this kart. Now i am 12 jears old and my father bought a tillotson t4 Junior kart for me with 18 hp last winter. I might switch to iame x30 or rotax in a few years.

Indoor karting locally and with KTips community help the BIKC. About £40ish a month is a good starter budget for hobby karting

My local track is $60 PER 10 MINUTES rental. I am getting a kart and building it myself! $360 an hour for OPEN PRACTICE is fucking WILD

They just opened K1 circut in Southern California. Winchester ca. Same company that does indoor. This is their first outdoor track. They have Electric go karts that can reach 80 mph. There are several licenses you must buy in order to work your way up to their pro license. I think its fair, they charge you $105 us dollars for 3 races that are on average 8 min each. You must do 30 races to be able to purchase a pro license to unlock the full potenial of the karts. The also offer practice days if you have your own kart. To get all the licenses and to purchase 30 races you are close to 2k. I think its worth it for seat time and great fun. I dont have to charge or change tires. just hop in and go

One more

Four-stroke engine championship
It’s cheaper than rm, but frame the same.
Chinese engine about 20 hp (tuning) costs about 300-400$

I started at PGP Motorsports Park in Tacoma, Washington (U.S.A) If you are 13 or below you can take a crash course for around $170 USD, they are a renal outdoor karting track and a "Arrive and Drive" session is around 60 each. If you live in the northwestern Washington area I highly recommend PGP.

I am just getting into karting a bit old but i would love to be able to even compete, it started out as my son wanting to try karting and race with me just to realize i it. I subscribe and will join your community as want to learn more. This will be a hobby for me from now on, plan to go to different tracks as my local track is a bit short. Or if you have a video talking about types of tracks for beginners that would be awesome.

Most tracks in my country charge between 12 and 20 euros per 10-15 minute sessions. I usually go three times a month for 2 or 3 sessions. Endurance races are more expensive here though. There's only one track sorta nearby which hosts them, and they charge 250 to 400 depending on the time of the race. There's one place in my country that offers a 24 hour endurance race, but that's 2.5k. Little outside my budget😅.

But I'm not super serious about it and not planning to compete. I just like improving my laptimes and enjoy the experience. Most of the time I'm with a friend or multiple, so that also makes it more fun.

Because of the high costs of karting, i had to make a really hard decision, be the mature one as a 8 year old boy. In the end, i did the sensible thing and decided to leave karting for what it is and skip straight to F1. I'm now 9 years old and a 3 time F1 driver world champion. Thank you all for wasting your precious time reading this nonsense.

Budget wise, on Eefde Karting, the cost is 33 EURO for 2 heats (p.p.) So on average we pay 143 EURO per month per person, I think that's quite OK :)

365$ for a month of rental karting, I wish I could! 😂
That’s the quantity I spend in half a year.

In Spain prices are usually cheaper. There are tracks which offer 3 heats for 30-36€, others are more expensive and can get up to 50€.
And the rental championships are a great way to start. Usually, the cost is around 550-700€ per season, which goes from September to June.
In Madrid there are some tracks which have their own races/championships, and the level is incredible. Usually there’s an amateur category and a pro one, which is where you must aim after doing 20-30 races.

I hope these helps to some of my compatriots!

Im lucky enough to have a group i can go with at least once a month for a sprint. Theres usually 5 of us (who are at least competitive), we're within .5 seconds of the rental lap record and we dont need to faff with track-organised race days to be able to practice racecraft on eachother.

We usually book the track out for 30 mins -10min quali, 20min race, (isnt much i know) but its a lot of fun and we get faster each time.

Only issue i can see going with friends is that youll get used to driving with those people as opposed to getting exposed to other different drivers & their driving styles

im canadian but in the area i go karting at the cheapest price for the karts are $70 cad for 30 minutes, and thats not even talking about getting there since its almost an hour away from where i live, its incredibly difficult to think about how much i want to do it with how unlikely it is to really be able to. especially since im only 16 and finding a job in canada is just impossible right now, so currently im just doing sim racing and practicing there so hopefully ill be able to find sponsorships or be able to gain recognition etc, etc. this is really the only hope i have to be able to get into motorsports

I only just started karting half a year ago and went karting every few months, now a month or so ago I made my debut in a local championship the AOM (Austrian Outdoor Masters). Now I’ve tried to go karting more often, as you said, twice a month or so. The problem is, my parents don’t let me. I already have to pay the start fees myself, which is 600/700 minimum per weekend. I tried searching for a job, but it’s very limited because I’m only 16. You got any ideas how I can finance all this?
