There always comes a time in our life when we decide to take on a special challenge and grab that huge book we always told ourselves you were going to read but never had the chance to. Or, if you’re not that much into reading for leisure, maybe you had to deal with huge textbooks in college that were complex, difficult to read and were just filled with ridiculous jargon that was just hard to get through.

Very good advices! I may add that clarifying every misunderstood word in a dictionary is often a fairly underestimated practice.
Drawing ideas and insights on a piece of paper, also good.
I nowadays, some authors have their own Youtube channels, podcasts or websites. And often, they publish stuff there that is related to the content of their books. That may also be a good source of information regarding the subject in question, or it may help on providing additional context. I recommended it! 😉

As Ph.D. student in the Humanities who has to read a lot of books for "work", I couldn't agree more with these ideas! These three things (scheming the book's content, taking notes while reading, and discussing what you've read with other readers) are the most effective tactics to retain information and expand your current knowledge.
