I'm sorry but I never understood this scene or why so many people were on the biological mother's side and just assumed that the step-mother was the "bad guy" here. I've watched the entire movie and the step-mother did nothing to earn such a bad rap. In fact she did everything she could to connect with the girl while trying her best to respect boundaries. Meanwhile, the biological mother was the one who abandoned her family, and apparently did it long ago enough for the father to fall in love with someone else, and is clearly more concerned with appearances since she constantly brought up the fact that her Ex and his wife went to the school together. Hello!! What exactly did she expect? Muge was missing, of course her legal parents are gong to be looking for her.

Exactly what is the mother's actual excuse for leaving? Did anyone even mention it at all? What's the real reason/excuse for not being there for her all that time? There was no mentioning of a restraining order or even hint that the woman was violent; so why are people assuming she "wasn't allowed" to see her child? And why is she suddenly trying to shoe-horn herself into her daughter's life all of a sudden? (Seriously, asking if her estrange daughter would move in with her?? Out of the blue? ) Muge sure as heck wasn't expecting her to, and wasn't even thrilled at the idea. (Least not in any of the scenes I've seen) Also, what would she even know what her own child would like or dislike after years of not even caring enough to stick around?

Finally, what right does she even have judging the step-mother? At least she's actually trying to be a mother and to a child that's not even her own no less. She's took the time to learn to cook things Muge likes to eat, she asks about her day and how she's been doing, and she is clearly taking her time and giving Muge space so as not to pressure her. She's not expecting Muge to even call her "Mom" or anything, she just wants to be a good mother for the sake of her step-child and nothing else.

I'm sorry but the step-mother had every right to call her out on her BS and even more right to strike her back after that initial slap. That's her house and should not be disrespected in her own house by some woman-child who's words and deeds made it pretty darn clear why she's an unfit parent. It's... "nice" that she wants to be better, but she is clearly going about it the wrong way.

Sure the biological mom has the right to mother her child because it literally is. But the step-mom UNDERSTANDS the kid MORE than the biological mother. Like, sorry y'all, must be nice to have nice biological moms I guess :/

This movie is like my life. My mom has schizophrenia. She destroyed my and my dad's life. We had to get away from her. Got a stepmother. My real mom wants to come back but we won't let her. Unlike Muge, i like my dad and step mom. And i am telling you if both my mom met in person in a situation like this, they would be fighting like. This movie was like my life.
