Germany rejects Edward Snowden's asylum request

Interior minister Hans-Peter Friedrich says on Wednesday Germany will not accept Edward Snowden's request for asylum. He says the right to stay in Germany is granted for humanitarian reasons, which he do not apply in this case. Snowden has applied for asylum in 21 countries, most of which have said no.

Germany and USA do have an extradition treaty. That's why Snowden wouldn't be safe in Germany and presumably not in whole EU. Maybe Switzerland would do but they can be quite stubborn. Alternatively however a witness-protection program might be interesting as a high German politian (Sigmar Gabriel) stated in a talkshow (afterwards he might get smuggled into another country)...

Yeah, we Americans live under such a great government that I was going to ask for political asylum from Germany just on the basis of being an American, and hence by definition oppressed by a corrupt government with the worst record of human rights on the planet. (Just ask Bradley Manning, the president of Bolivia or the people of Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.) I am sadly serious. I want to flee, and I have done nothing wrong.
