DCT is quicker and more efficient.
6 speed is more fun.

End of argument, everyone needs to shut up.

You have to rev the car up until the weight shifts in the car. what you're doing is compressing your springs and by doing that once you start going you have the added force of the spring pressure

@mor3hawk3 They usually 1200 miles until you can really floor it. Before then, staying under 3-4k rpm is the best thing to do.

Most launch controls on automatic and double clutch cars require you to hold the breaks. GTR is the same way.

Don't care how fast you "think" you can change a manual car, i very much doubt you can do it as efficiently as an auto box

If the manual transmission enthusiast cares about keeping up that much.

Seems like people these days just want the bragging rights to the fastest car, rather then purchasing a vehicle and driving it for their own enjoyment.

@rapandrnb bmw launch control requires you to hold on the breaks. look it up

I understand the argument between a Dual Clutch and a traditional gearbox.  Having owned both in the 335i (manual) and the 335is (DCT) I really do miss the traditional 6-speed...  Sometimes.   There's plenty of a "I'm a real Man, I have a stick" stupidity in evidence here from folks without a clue but plenty of (lack of original thought) opinions.   So far, most everything I've read below deserves a STFU you don't know what you're talking about.
So, some reality.  The DCT plain OWNS the 6 speed 90% of the time in every condition all the time.  Sure can it be a crutch to folks who otherwise cannot drive, but they will do what they always do get in over their heads, panic, and drive their cars off the road like lemmings anyway.    But in the real world, day to day, the DCT is just better, stuck in traffic?  No worries, no left leg pump, just smack it over to AUTO and relax.  Around town?  Banging through the fast shifts with a satisfy burp here and there is great, fast and efficient.  It's a lovely tranny (DCT) that even allows my wife to drive it if she needs to.  So yeah Huzzah!
However, where the DCT starts to really bum me out is on track days, canyon runs, autocross, or just hooning around for fun.  This is where I really miss the 6-speed.  No I'm not faster or better than the perfect DCT shifts but I am more involved, more connected to the vehicle when I'm playing and it's just more rewarding executing perfect heal toe downshifts, and balancing the car on the throttle and clutch is just perfect.
SO, DCT is AWESOME...  Most of the time.  Really miss my 6-speed, but all the histrionics from deluded wannabee's and desk drivers is just silly.

Maybe you can shift very fast, but a lot of people can't and I'd prefer that the deviation in skill remains

how do you do a "launch control". I mean when i do it for my g35 the rear wheels start to spin and then it just stops spinning even though my foots on the gas. Sometimes it works but like i have to let go of the brake pretty fast and my car starts to swerve it doesnt just go straight..

true, but the dual clutch operation make this car much faster than a stick

Eventually? They are already obsolete.

All we can do is hope that certain companies continue to realize that efficiency and performance come second for many. I think cars like the Corvette will always remain true, though I'm not as optimistic for our Japanese and German friends.

I don't see what requires so much skill to drive a stick shift properly. I would say that I can shift very fast and accurate, but still not as fast as a dct transmission. Why don't we just benefit of a faster transmission and technical progress?
