Correlation basically means how two variables are related to each other. The coefficient of correlation is the “R” indicator (not r squared) which shows dimension. It could be negative, positive, or zero. Negative means these two variables have an inverse relationship with each other. Positive means they have a direct relationship with each other. It means when the first variable goes up, the second also increases. Zero also, means that the two variables do not have any meaningful relationship with each other. In excel, you can simply calculate the coefficient of correlation. You just need to list your first dataset, then the second one, and then use the Correl function in excel to calculate the “R” indicator.
