People make jokes about that but it's true. A vast majority of the players in today's NBA wouldn't survive in the 80s/90s or before. Now, the game is set up so that offenses can do basically whatever they want and the defense can't lay a finger or breathe on the shooter. That wouldn't fly 30+ years ago when it was literally grown men playing a full contact sport. The game was so much more enjoyable to watch when teams weren't all buddy-buddy with every single player. There were actual rivalries, competitive toughness, and high stakes/bragging rights for all who were involved.

You just don't see that anymore and it breaks my heart to see such an amazing sport with such talented individuals wasted on ticky tack contact rules
