Bill Withers - Use Me

“Use Me” was released in 1972 on the Still Bill album by Bill Withers. Written by Withers, the song was inspired by feedback he had received from women that told him he was “too nice”, and his intent to change that.

The lyrics tell the story of a man whose love interest walks all over him, leading him to anticipate and even enjoy the abuse and heartache it causes. The song would go on to peak at number 2 on the Billboard chart, kept from the top spot by Michael Jackson’s “Ben”.
