Here's an even easier tip for finding the dimensions of your map. You can use the "Set Dimensions" option when you right click on the map after you load it. Then in Windows Explorer or Finder for mac, go to the properties, go to details, find dimensions, and you'll find a pixel dimension of your map. Keep that window open, go back to your map, place those dimensions in, the map will change. Then to make the page settings the same as the map, go to page settings, place those dimensions in the size, hit save, go back to your map and align it.

I cannot thank you enough, even the website did not say how to import the files onto the pages.

When you drag&drop, you can also just hold Ctrl+Alt when you let go of the map and it will not resize.
Also useful for pictures and if you want to move things around or resize content, it prevents grid-locking.

Great tutorial!
To add to your video, if you switch to Map layer before placing the map image you will not have to deal with resizing it (even with the grid still on), it'll just pop in there in its original size and roll20 will even automatically ask to resize the page

Thank you, nether D&D beyond or roll20 is very clear on how to upload maps so this video is a lifesaver

I wish this was around when I first found roll20. I don't know how many hours it took me to figure out how to resize ungrided maps.

If I try and align to th grid it just cuts the imagine in half. If I don’t do that the grid is huge compared to the map. I’m very confused

You dont need MS pain. Just open in photoviewer, right click and resize, set image quaility to medium

Did you say "killerbytes" on purpose (twice) or was that a funny unconscious play on words ? It could be a mix between KB and MB :P

this doesn't help much because now all the options have changed and while you are very good and very familiar with using this, you go to fast to try and follow what's being done.

You should do this for hexes!
Squares are, well . . . "square"!
Hexes are cool!
Hexes are the future!
You can get anywhere realistically with a hex map with squares going diagonally . . . well only bishops to that and we all know what bishops look like don't we?
Said another way: Squares suck!

So does this snap to grid business work with hexes? If not, why not? If yes, well that is good.

Dude, "unveal"?! You mean remove all the veal from the map? Maybe all your players are vegans, which is ok an all, but bra . . . it is still "unveil" ('un-vale'). If I had a secret message, that I could write to you, I would have do it. Sorry. Just trying to help and be funny. Maybe I did not achieve that, but hey dude . . . hexes yeah?

It seems it would just be easier to upload maps without grids and put a hex grid on them. (wink-wink-nudge-nudge)
