"The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" is SUCH a famous song, covered by nearly everyone, regarded widely as one of the greatest songs about wartime ... veterans all over the world hold it in their hearts ...

Educational for me. since I'm not an Aussie. SO thank you. I live and learn. But as a foreigner, I have to stick with I'ts because I love you and ... The Band Played Waltzing Matilda, the greatest anti-war song ever written.

No Little River Band in the Top 30 is criminal

In my humble Scottish opinion: It's Because I Love You and The band Played Waltzing Matilda. World class songs.

I enjoyed this list, another honourable mention could have been I still call Australia home, it always tugs at my heart strings.

While understand that music is subjective but here are a few bands that I think you should consider, Skyhooks - living in the 70's, Sherbert - Howzat, Billy Thorpe - Most People I Know, Axiom - Little Ray of Sunshine and Masters Aprentices - Because I Love You

My main criticism would be the lack of so many acts from the 60s and 70s. Surely the Seekers would have to be on this list, international trailblazers for Aussie music, just so iconic. Then the Bee Gees, Olivia Newton-John, Helen Reddy, Air Supply, the Little River Band, Russel Morris, the Mixtures, New World and Kevin Johnson. Maybe even Frank Ifield needs a mention. Great to see the Easybeats here, that song still sounds great today! Thanks for the chart, a lot of fun. PS Of course number 1 should be Daddy Cool's Eagle Rock such a phenomenon at the time.

Missing: Georgie Girl (The Seekers - head & shoulders above many of these), Turn Up Your Radio (Masters Apprentices), Ever Loving Man (The Loved Ones). But mostly I love your choices.

Should be renamed "my personal top 30 Australian songs of the last 30 years". Definitely NOT Top 30 Aussie songs of all time.

Love the list, I thought eagle rock would make it for sure! I do think it will be super interesting to see in 30 years if artists like Flume, Tame Impala, Rufus Du Sol, Gang of Youths, Sia, etc etc will be held in the same light as these songs are today. Maybe they will never get the esteem of the previous generations but I think its just something that takes time and nostaliga to really kick in.

No Johnny O’Keefe? Seriously, any list of best Australian popular music that doesn’t include the wild one has no credibility.

No Bee Gees? No Olivia? Regardless of what you think of the music (and I rate them both in their genres), they were both global giants. Same for Helen Reddy. I am Woman was a monster.

You can argue that Master’s Apprentices should be there in place of Vance Joy etc, but the omission of the above four is unforgivable.

As a Brazilian growing up in the 80's your list didn't ringed a bell so much. Specially on the top 10. I touch my self and the Australian crawl one were bigger here then any top 10 except for the men at work

No Daddy Cool, The Seekers, Masters Apprentices or Redgum and, as noted by others, The Band Played Waltzing Matilda is also missing.

Solid effort. Good list, but I feel like you've effectively chosen 30 well known Aussie artists and then picked their most famous song, rather than their best.
E.g. I'd go with 'Let there be rock' over 'Long way to the top', 'Bow River' over 'Khe Sanh', 'Don't Change' over 'Never Tear us Apart' and 'Ana's Song' over tomorrow.
Also, Wolfmother deserves more than an honourable mention. Joker and the thief was a world wide smash and is an all time, absolute banger!!

Man what a banger list, such good choices, great video!

As a fellow Australian music lover, I do agree with the choices you've chosen being classic hits when looking at music channels on Foxtel like Channel V and Max which will be missed

I loved this list. I actually did not know most of the bands were from Australia.

Oh wow, I would probably change the order a little bit, and maybe change the songs of one or two artists, but basically, this list is the soundtrack of my life!
