To NOT give constitutional rights back, is, in itself unconstitutional!

stacysws

After a convicted person has served their sentence, all rights have to be restored.

sidallen

People who have done their time and are not on parole or probation should have full restoration of their constitutional rights

I 100% agree with you. I am a Retired LEO. Any and all firearms laws are Unconstitutional. Period.

Absolutely agree with you, Jarod. If he isn't fully restored than he can't be trusted in society. If the judge says his crime debt will cost him 20 years in jail then when his 20 years is done, his debt is paid in full.

Absolutely. If you can not trust them enough with their rights, then they should not be released. Once you've paid your "debt to society, " then all revoked rights should be reinstated.

When they make everything a felony, nothing is a felony.

Yes. If they've "paid their debt to society" then to deny them their rights would be saying they had more debt that was owed.

Thanks Jared and I totally agree with you on this. Any man or woman who has paid their debt to society SHOULD DAMN WELL GET ALL THEIR RIGHTS BACK. THROUGH OUT OUR HISTORY, UPON RELEASE FROM PRISON THEY GOT THEIR GUNS BACK AND THAT DID NOT CHANGE UNTIL THE 20TH CENTURY!!!

lewisholmes

Once their debt to society has been paid, "ALL RIGHTS" should be restored. PERIOD!!!

If they're qualified to be released back in to society then they should get ALL of their rights back...

If your "debt" is paid and you have satisfied the entirety of your incarceration then you should have ALL of your rights restored once completing said term. If it is determined that you are too much of a threat to have your rights restored, then you should not be released from prison.

If the individual completes his/her sentence, even if it was a felony, they should have ALL of their rights restored. If not, then they are still being punished, which goes beyond their court sentencing.

My mind has changed as well. 💯% agree that all rights need to be restored.

If you have served your time. END OF STORY. ALL rights NEED to be restored.

If they complete their sentence, they should have all rights restored. If somebody disagrees they have zero faith in our prison system.

robinsage
Автор

Yes! They should ! It has already been deemed unconstitutional to remove said rights!

Would this not be covered by the 8th amendment which says “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”?

I personally know a woman that had felony charges in the state of South Carolina. Every time she tried to purchase a hand gun, she was denied. She finally had to have the felony conviction expunged from her records. She now has multiple firearms, and her CWP.
