Abel Tasman Coastal Track - New Zealand Great Walk

The full Abel Tasman Coast Track is 60km one-way. As NZ’s smallest national park, the Abel Tasman packs a punch with its golden beaches, turquoise bays and coastal bush.

There are several tide crossings along the way, so check the tide timetables before going. The Awaroa Inlet is passable only near low tide, while Torrent Bay and Bark Bay have all-tide tracks around them. Because of this, we started from Awaroa Bay, taking a boat there and running back to Mārahau.

Total distance: 32km
Total elevation: +810m / -832m
Total time: 4.5hrs

Awaroa Bay to Onetahuti Beach: 4km (+101m / -107m)
Onetahuti Beach to Bark Bay Hut (All-tide Track): 5km (+274m / -266m)
Bark Bay Hut to Torrent Bay Village: 8km (+240m / -248m)
Torrent Bay Village to Akersten Bay: 8km (125m / -84m)
Akersten Bay to Marahau: 7km (+70m / -127m)

Elevation figures are approximate based on my GPS watch.
