On the 200th anniversary of her death - the new, plastic, Jane Austen £10 note has been formally unveiled.

Jane Austen died in Winchester in 1817 and is buried in the north aisle of the Cathedral. The new note "will recognise her universal appeal and enduring contribution to English literature", Winchester Cathedral said in a statement concerning the launch.

The new £10 note has new security features built in to it.

The quote printed below Jane Austen - on the reverse of the note - seems to suggest that the words are from the great woman herself
which is not the case: they are taken from Pride and Prejudice and were 'uttered' by Caroline Bingley.

BOE notes (if they will still be any) will be the size of a postage stamp by the year 2100.

British currency is almost like artwork. American currency in comparison is quite dull. Although we are. getting our first female on our $20 bill....Harriet Tubman. Now we just need a little color.
