This woman is going under general anesthesia. The face mask with oxygen is being placed and this is called pre-oxygenation. The nurse or someone in the operating room is pushing propofol and this is called induction of anesthesia. The face mask is still on sometimes the procedure can be done with a face mask but most times an airway is placed in the form of a laryngeal mask airway or an endotracheal tube.
