2020 BMW X1 SUV - First Look Review and News: Features, Price, Colors, Release Date, Packages

Показать описание
The 2020 BMW X1 is a slightly updated version of BMW's current entry-level SUV. The most notable updates are enlarged kidney grilles upfront and a conventional 8.8-inch infotainment display inside. The display was previously optional, however, the grilles are all-new for 2020. The X1's bigger and more angular BMW signature twin-kidney grille is very similar to those found on the X5 and X7 SUVs, in addition to the 7 Series luxury sedan.
Other styling updates incorporate a more sculpted front bumper with added chrome accents and LED foglights, tinted LED taillights with a slightly different layout, and a contemporary rear bumper with tailpipes which are 0.8-inch larger.
Standard Features
Standard feature highlights for the new 2020 BMW X1 comprise 18-inch wheels and tires, a capability liftgate, synthetic leather upholstery, the above 8.8-inch touchscreen iDrive 6, navigation, and Apple CarPlay. Advanced security features are well-represented with lane departure warning, frontal collision mitigation, a traffic-sign reader, and automatic high beams.
When optioned with leather upholstery, the X1's lower dashboard and door panels are now finished in matching leather, and there is contrasting stitching on the instrument panel and floor mats.
Options and Packages
Buyers will also have the ability to add bundled features like the Convenience package (LED foglights, panoramic sunroof, power-folding mirrors, keyless entry, universal garage-door opener, auto-dimming mirrors, ambient lighting, and satellite radio); the M Sport package (18-inch wheels and tires using all-season tires or 19-inch wheels and tires with wheels, the choice of a standard or sport suspension, a sport-tuned transmission, sporty exterior treatments, sport seats, and a sport steering wheel); and the Luxury package (premium leather and interior configuration elements). Stand-alone features include adaptive cruise control, sliding and reclining rear seats, an automatic parking system, a wireless charging pad, and superior sound.
Engine and Transmission
The 2020 X1's only powertrain, a 228-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, carries over from this past year, and the X1 stays available with either front- or all-wheel drive. BMW claims the X1's eight-speed automatic has received different gear ratios for better performance, and the gear shifter is a brand-new digital unit that better matches people in the rest of the BMW lineup.
Cost
Pricing has not been announced yet, but I expect it to cost about the same as the present X1, which starts around $35,000 for the sDrive28i and $37,000 for the xDrive28i.
Release Date/Availability
BMW claims that the #2020BMWX1 will go on sale in the U.S. in late 2019.
