These Sega Mega Drive Games Cost More Than a PlayStation 5

The PlayStation 5 is at the bleeding edge of console gaming and commands a hefty price. But at the other end, just 7 games from a console 5 generations behind it cost more than the PS5 or the Xbox Series X and almost three times the price of a Nintendo Switch. It’s the collector's Edition show where I try and collect every single Sega Mega Drive and Sega Genesis game, and this month I went to the London gaming market to buy some pretty expensive games.

I’ve been after havoc for a few years and wow, I didn’t know it was a data east game as two crude dudes was an immense mega drive arcade conversion by data east 👍, if you don’t have it defo get it. I've wanted to get a copy of Havoc for years but couldn't justify the cost. I'm genuinely shocked at how expensive Sparkster and Ristar has gotten over the past 10 years I remember picking both my copies for under £30

I have megagames 2 and 3 that came with my original megadrive (which I still have boxed), same copies I've had since the 90s. They both came with full size 3 colour manuals.

The original Sega Genesis Golden Axe Manual was color cover but the interor was black in white on gloss paper.

£65 is awesome for Ristar CIB! I recently got it for $70 (~£53) loose, and I've been loving the game.

I picked up about 7 or 8 Genesis games all together and it totalled up to about $370, so I know how you feel spending console money on old games lol. But man I'm so happy with what I got! Shinning Force 2, Revenge of Shinobi, Shinobi III, Rocket Knight, Castlevania, X-Men 2, and obv. Ristar. Just some real essential games I've wanted for years that I finally pulled the trigger on!

Mega games came with colour manuals, only in later life did they come with the black photocopied looking ones, nearer the end of the mega drives life, and yes when pristine they did fit, not so much when they have been looked at a few times

Superb collection you have there Mike! Mazin Wars and Outrun 2019 are completely new to me. I have the Mega Games cart in my Nomad. All times favorite! Golden axe, Shinobi 3 and Golden Axe. Do you have Golden Axe 2 and 3, the special move in 3 is hard to master but once you get it, you can execute it almost instinctively!

My original official Mega Drive controller broke and I must have thrown it away but I wish I kept it and repaired it.
