As a physical therapist when you hear the phrase "no pain no gain", you probably think about all of the issues with it. How you learned about pain and how it acts as an indicator of something being broken or abnormal in your patient. How there is probably some sort of deviation that needs fixing by you.

Well what if that phrase holds more truth than you previously thought? In this video we review the common misconception that avoiding pain altogether when trying to rehab from an injury or symptom presentation is probably not the healthiest way forward.

Allowing tolerable pain while training and while rehabbing is likely to get patients moving more and more active than they would be if you restricted them to pain free exercise only.
