Sonic Colors Ultimate Tropical Resort Gameplay (2021) vs Sonic Colors (2010) Graphical Comparison

More Sonic Colors Ultimate footage has surfaced thanks to the Future Games Show at E3. In this video I compare the graphics of Sonic Colors and Sonic Colors Ultimate all throughout the second act of Tropical Resort. All credit for the new gameplay goes to the GamesRadar. Sonic Colors Ultimate will be releasing on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on the Epic Games Store on September 7, 2021.

Gameplay footage was originally recorded in 30fps in Colors Ultimate for some reason but the game will launch with 60fps on all platforms except for the Nintendo Switch port.

Why don't Sonic's eyes move in the intro? I know, it's a very small detail that barely affects the game, but it's one of the small things that make this version feel cheaper than the original.

I know people are only focused on the lighting but there is so much detail put in to Ultimate, different graphics and effects being used, remixed level music, and extra collectibles it’s really a full package.

The main thing bothering me is the sonic model. It looks like he’s constantly glowing no matter where he is and sometimes at the beginning of a stage I think his mouth disappears leaving a blank muzzle. The lighting in the levels are hit or miss too.

One weakness immediately evident: In Ultimate, Sonic's eyes are locked in the center of his whites, whereas in Colors original, he looks forward to the path ahead of him even while his head is turned.

If anyone its wondering why it looks so dark, this is actually how tropical resort looks like
In the CGI intro and promo art for sonic colors its depicted to be more dark like a casino stage that's why the lights are so bright which its why sonic looks like that so that you dont get lost in all the detail of the stage

Wow, everywhere I look there is complaints of the darkness, colour saturation, bloom etc. I'm not against it btw but it seems that 100% of the comments I see on youtube videos are like this. Sega MUST work more on these to make it look as appealing as the wii version did, but of course keep it HD

They way ir looks "DRY" or without color.
It's because they naturalized the colors i see.

It takes a lot of power to render all that lighting in real time so big improvement on the ultimate release
