I started making a focus app to learn how to focus but never finished it because I can't focus, that crack me up

Same here. Out of my 80+ repos, around 65 are still at the beginning stages of development. I keep seeing all these tech out there that I just want to try out and I just keep getting ideas that are too big to fit in, in the 2 or 3 days window of when I am genuinely interested in it.

This is extremely relatable not just with coding but with my whole life

Thank you so much for sharing. It weirdly made me feel better about myself now that I know that I'm not alone

I have the same problem, but the fix was basically finding someone who needed my skillset but didn't have that mentality. Sometimes just pairing up with the right people can make the world of a difference.

this is why I like building the business model first and then writing all the software

i definitely consider myself more of a software developer than a business guy but nonetheless this is what i do every time i come up with something new and it always tends to be the best way to go about things

I'm happy to see that is nothing wrong with me. This video gives me some relief lol.

I unfortunately have had this problem for a while. I've been pretty diligent lately in working on a MERN stack project in order to beef up my portfolio. I've been a front end dev for the past 6 years in a small company that is pretty chill and good people to work with but I feel hasn't prepared me for a modern role using these newer javascript libraries/frameworks and general best practices. Pay isn't that great either. Lesson learned: Don't get too comfortable in your current position.

This doesn't happen to me often with code, but same thing happens to me with my music production hobby. I have dozens if not hundreds of unfinished projects. I seem to jump from one thing to another. I never had ADHD problems or anything. I use to be a lot more focused and dedicated to grind thru one thing till the end. Maybe as we age and become more experienced we learn to identify what has "potential" to turn into something useful and valuable or has monetary value attached to it. Only then we stick to it else we sort of abandon and forget it.

Success is failing and this video is awesome! I never visited your channel but think you might be way cooler than many channels out there.

Feels the same like you, the thing is that we know what to do and we simply don’t do it. We always find a reason to justify that meanwhile many people out there with less growth potential achieving more than we do

I'm 1:1 in you exact same position

I have like 20 pojects I started working on, trying out stuff, prototypes etc. And then some time later I just stopped working on it and still now I am like: ye, but it still sounds kinda cool🤔

I think I also have a few projects that are essentially the same, but started in different points in time and with different technology ^^

I Am a University Student and currently developing this behavior.
I'm trying to stop being like this and focus on one project, but soon when there is a seemingly better (at the time) project idea, I always stop on what I'm currently working and move on. I'm planning to work on a project so i can showcase them when i need to apply for work, it's pretty hard to acknowledge that I'm actually intimidated by projects that are popping up on youtube while i can only just build useless programs. My only self-reminder is just "Focus and forget comparing", very compatible with this syndrome and easy to say, but hard to do. Being around internet programmer experts sure can be veeery anxious.

Normally I'll start out with an idea, really motivated, but after several attempts of coding something alone, but then never being able to fix a single bug I give up because of frustration, which in turn decreases motivation.

Same here. I have been working on a RPG game for 3 days and now I've abandoned it coz I couldn't get the running animation right

I'm the total opposite. I've been working on the same project for over 20 years. I've tried to attract shiny object people, but I can't make kool-aid. I thought maybe when bitcoin came out with a similar architecture, I had a chance but still no go. Maybe one day though...
