FWIW the Cnoc 3L bag is only 0.3oz heavier compared to the 2L and the extra liter can be useful if you have some dry camp/longer water carry scenarios.

Newest favorite for me is Patagonia's remastered Strider Pro 5" shorts. I've worn through a couple of pairs of these over the years and after brain surgery last fall I've apparently packed on a little weight so I needed something with a little more room. I was skeptical that the new shorts would live up to the reputation of their legendary predecessors, but after some miles I'm convinced when I wear through these I'm probably going to have them bronzed if I don't need to burn them first. Uber comfy, no undies necessary, don't show dirt, can even hold my phone, and don't ever chaff my hips when I'm in the yoke.

With the Katadyn Befree I’ve bought a Grape Wine drawstring pouch to put over the mouth to act like a sieve to keep out the sediment. It’s I think 0.5oz dry and has done a great job thus far … good luck on your summer thruhike 👍🏻

I hope you get to use the Vargo V3 cleats. Those look super interesting and I may have to look into them as wearing micro spikes on my trail runners in the spring time is problematic as they collect ice balls and my feet just stick to the snow and pull the micro spikes off. These look like they may be more efficient for spring/snow melt weather.

Also curious about your sun shirt. I’ve added two Sunshirts to my gear this year but the ones I’m using are by Columbia. They seem okay so far and are doing a pretty good job as a wind shirt too. The pluses are that the material dries really fast.

yo darwin, be careful with the finger loop on the back of lone peak 5, i tore mine in the first week abusing it. wouldn't want the string on the cleats riding up on your ankle because the loop broke.

Love your sun hoodie project! Will we see Outdoor Evolution expand into a cottage industry soon? Trying out a pair of Montane Icarus camp slippers on the Isle of Skye Trail next week. Not sure if they're worth the weight but I like the idea of a bit of luxury in the evenings!
