Before the internet age, I had heard rumours about a song called Sad Song (without knowing that it was on the vinyl version of Definitely Maybe... I bought CDs!) I also didn’t see Noel perform it on Jools (pre YouTube). Then I heard it was a b-side on an elusive Don’t Go Away, Japan only CD. Seven CD shops turned me down to get it imported (pre eBay). Six years later after those failed attempts, in 2003 and travelling in Sydney, in a small CD shop, I found the only Oasis CD I never had... that Japanese only Don’t Go Away single!! It was such a thrilling moment!! With the CD in hand, and eight years after I had first heard about the song, I waited a few more hours until it was dark and I could sit on Coogee beach in silence. I listened to it on my CD Walkman, and cried for it’s beauty. To then hear Liam’s version another sixteen years on is so touching. Blessings to Noel and Liam for their art and brilliance.
