If you manage to get up beyond the gate but find that Gyoubu refuses to come run to his death, simply get far enough away and the game just proclaims him dead. Either it assumes he cannot be dead once you are that far away and forces him to die, or the ground collision beneath him stops working at a certain distence away, and he falls to his death in the void below. Either way, super convinent way to cheese this boss, thank God for there not being mile-high barriers in this game.

If you wanna enjoy the boss without cheesing it, Just block all of his attacks and attack 3 times everytime he gets his spear stuck in the ground. The firecracker also stuns him and leaves him vulnerable for 3 attacks. Good luck.

I tried to do this but I accidentally beat him the normal way cause he broke the tower thing

I've just discovered something new.
I did the tower climbing method a few times, It is hard but it works.
Now I'm on NG+ and i messed up my jumps and the tower got destroyed each time I tried.
After a few tries I was pissed and thought why do I need the tower?! So i ran between Tree and wall (left of the gate) and i jumped to the right (walljump) and fell. Nothing happend. But then I tried again while the boss was charging at me from a distance.
I fell again, but this time he followed me and died. Shinobi execution appeared and i got the rewards.

I don’t know if this still works but other way (credit to comments): Time your jump off the cliff with his charge and like do a bounce jump off the wall and he’ll fall like he does at the end of this vid.

people fail to explain that you have to press ( 1 jump + repeated Square) I am using PS4. Try it, it works. Do everything like in this video regarding positions etc, but remember, one jump while leaning towards the post, then square repeatedly.
