So, they hid the car in a field, which is interesting. Means they didn't want to be found. Also, I found the parents creepier than the child. He just seemed terrified of them, and where they were going. But who knows?

One thing that left me really questioning was that the police found the parents' car in an orchard. So the father never took it to a mechanic? So what was the plan?

I don't think the woman at the end, that we thought was a psychiatrist, is really Julian's mom. I think she calls herself his mother because she is the head of the cult. So she is all of the cult members' "mother".

They were trying to get him to Niagara Falls to push him over in a barrel... or so I gathered! He scares them.

This is completely out there, but what if Harry is really Heather's father. He and Heather's dad are about the same age, and Harry and the mother could have been having a long-term affair, one the dad was aware if, but one that was also left unspoken. The mom got pregnant, and naturally Heather was raised by the married couple. Hell, maybe they didn't know who the father was and decided to leave it that way. Remember at the very beginning, at the diner, when Heather was scolding him about what his doctor had said? That bit of dialogue seemed unnecessary, unless it was to lead to an event during the season. Maybe the dad has a heart attack and his dying confession to Harry was that he got a paternity test and found out he wasnt the father, so Harry had to be. This is a longshot theory, but it would explain a lot: Why he left town right after her funeral, the awkward scenes between Harry and Heather's "dad, " i.e. how Harry tried to force him into taking the money for the lunch, and the whole fishing trip conversation, which was filled with subtext, imo. It also would shed some light on the chemistry as detectives the writers have written for Harry and Heather. With this show, things seem to come right out of left field.

Quick question - does this review contain major spoilers for Season 1? It’s a great discussion but I paused it at 11:20 because I haven’t watched the first season and now these ladies have me intrigued. Thx.
