Croatian music teacher Frane Selak is sometimes referred to as the "luckiest unlucky man." Over his lifetime, he claimed to have survived multiple life-threatening incidents.

In January 1962, Frane Selak survived a train crash that killed 17 passengers, escaping with a broken arm and hypothermia.

The following year, he claimed to have been blown out of a malfunctioning plane door, landing in a haystack, while 19 others died in the crash.

In 1966, he swam to safety after a bus plunged into a river, drowning four.

Over the years, he also claimed to have survived a series of accidents, including two car fires, a bus accident, and a near-fatal car crash where he was ejected and clung to a tree.

In 2003, two days after his 73rd birthday, he won €900,000 in the lottery but gave most of it away by 2010 to live a simpler life.

Throughout his life, many of his claims were met with skepticism due to a lack of independent verification. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 87.
