If you spectrum your drums and see snare at 260Hz for example, should you just notch that out on your leads/ basses if you want them to cut through?

I had a lesson in EQ today and class and I was having a really hard time understanding it, especially around the drums. I think this was because the drums, especially the Snare and Kick were miced poorly so no amount of EQing was going to fix that. But more than that, one guy got the guitars to sound the best they can sound, but when he put the rest of the instruments in, it all faded away. So once you have one or two tracks sounding perfect, how do you find room for the rest of it to live?

it's something that goes away over time :) give it a few years :)

actually the human ear can hear between 30-35Hz to 16kHz
