This reminds me of this trailer home I lived in for almost a year it wasn't a bad home but the worst part about it was how the septic tank was connected to the sprinklers so everyone's sprinklers went off at the same time and damn did it smell so bad around 12pm everyday lmao.

In modern ones there’s usually more chambers and filters and chlorine to treat the water, then the water is usually sent somewhere else or it goes out through marked sprinklers

Not really, I'm pretty sure this is only a few systems that do this, bit septic tanks just store all of the sewage and waste. Then, that sewage and waste gets either sent to a filter, or sent to dump in the water. It filters out the bad stuff and then it's used in common house appliances like sinks, showers, and toilets. It can also be used for crops, but only if it is set up properly.
