Awesome I've been looking for something like this for a while now. Do you know if the backgacing feature would work on an object that's been shelled with the solidify modifier as well?

It can be done much easier if the "Face orientation" item is enabled!
In the viewport setup, there is a "Face orientation back" item where you can adjust the color and transparency. I advise you to make the color completely transparent on the "Face orientation front" item.
