Step 1) Restart Steam
Step 2) Disable/ Enable Steam Input- Restart the game
Step 3) Restart your PC
Step 4) Unplug hotas, wheel, pedals, mouse, Razer Tartarus, disconnect all the additional USB adapter connected to PC, disconnect additional joystick/controllers connected, disconnect multiple monitors, if you have any virtual controller (Vjoy etc.), disable/uninstall them.
Step 5) Launch Steam in big picture mode and then launch the game
Step 6) PS5 Controller users: Install reWASD /DS4 Windows
Step 7) Use wired controller

Disabling steam input with pc reset finally got it to work. Very annoying.

That pissed me off so much that steam input mode is required for literally any other game but no this one. Thank you. Spent almost two hours figuring this out.

My controller works but there are times when the right bumper stops to work entirely. I do have an old Xbox one controller but the controller works entirely fine on other games.

I've noticed that restarting my pc fixes it but then it happens again, it's just one input that doesn't work. Anyway you can recommend fixing it? I've tried all your steps here and I really don't want to constantly restart my pc to fix this bug

the problem is.. when using ps5 dualsense controller on steam, vibration is not working when shooting only the adaptive trigger works. Is this normal?

Don't just disable other devices, you need to unplug, then option 2 also, then succeeded

Some controllers are just not compatible it says so on the right side of your steam near the achievements
