I would see your floor lamp in the empty corner near the sofa where you were thinking of putting a plant.
Then you could add a plant...it would get light from the lamp.
There are plants that need minimum lighting.

That hutch you got is so cute! Love the shape, and great job putting it together. plant on the side of the couch would look so good. Hey, do you think the plant is still a little droopy because it needs a bigger pot? We were thinking the pot may be a little too small for it. You can also get a cute colored ceramic pot to set the plant inside. Don't put dirt inside the decorative pot, just set the whole plant in it. Just an idea 😉 Sending hugs from So Cal.

Overall, I think it great that you are learning your personal style and making your apartment more homey/cozy.

Also, I like your new cabinet it is a good dupe for a similar Anthropologie cabinet (their’s have a marble top and no top doors).

I think a matching sofa or arm chair would provide additional seating. They also sale console tables that go behind sofa that can hide your storage bags.
