When I had an interview with my current art school, I was open about my interest for minecraft, zombies and my fanarts. I put in my book MCYT fanarts, and guess what I got accepted! The trick is to focus on how it contributed to your personal development. I did portraits and charadesigns, so I expressed my interest for it and how it related to my career plan (work in animation). And if they don't want you cause of that, well you don't want to study there trust me
