So this game prompted a dude to keep his Super Famicom ON for 20 years.

I love how decades later I am still being surprised by weird games on the SNES. I had a copying machine back in the day so i was no stranger to weird and wacky games but there does seem to be alot that i missed.

What's with the bloody looking kanji?  I thought it was going to be some kind of hardcore samurai side scroller or something, but nope, a girl with a fishing pole.

Fun Fact: This game can be beaten in under 5 minutes

I'm curious why they chose to put the game information in the middle of the screen instead of on the top and bottom.

i'm gonna be honest here, most of the games reviewed on this channel do not interest me in the slightest, in the sense that they don't make me want to go and get them.
but not this one. this looks hella fun, and i'm genuinely interested. i'm just worried how the hell am i going to find it without knowing any japanese :|

(whops, seems like searching "UMIHARA KAWASE" works just fine. yay)

Seriously iconic game when it comes to the SNES generation in Japan, a real shame we never saw it get a release over here...

I swear Japan literally has some of the funnest video games. It really is only a matter of understanding the language to find these titles because I could have searched for weeks and not find something like this.

Two versions also were released on the original PlayStation, under the name Umihara Kawase Shun.

Looks very fun. I would have enjoyed it if I got to play it in childhood. I'd play it now if I knew where to get it.

This is how I used the ninja rope in Worms.

No need to import! The sequel, Sayonara Umihara Kawase, was localized as a digital download on the 3DS in North America, retitled "Yumi's Odd Odyssey." Highly recommended!

Your pronunciation was actually pretty good. 発音がよっかた!

Mark you pronounced it right over the title screen, every other time it was wrong lol.

I've been wanting to grab this one, but it's so expensive.

I'm just gonna wait until I can get to Japan, try to pick it up cheaper.

I never understood why all the overhead displays are right in the MIDDLE of the screen. :/
