My family used to travel to Florida from Canada quite often. I refuse to bring my family and money to an openly racist and bigoted environment. As a teacher in Canada, I am sickened by anyone who suggests that teaching children there was a benefit to slaves as they learned valuable skills.

As a Floridian i say we live with a perfect storm hovering above us, since the middle 90's when we had Lawton Chiles republican govs had eroded the beautiful Sunshine State . Bush, Christ, Scott, and DiSantis, almost 30 years of wrongdoing came with a hefty price.

Lived here for over 40 thought Rick Scott was awful. Some of us Floridians WANT our children to read and WANT our children to be safe and have no issues what-so-ever with the word gay or any member of the LGBTQ community. Sane Floridians are just aren't as loud as the crazy ones.

Florida gets the govt they vote into office. DeSantis is simply the representation of this. Florida is becoming South Alabama. It's killing itself from the inside out. My family is just one, but we decided to not vacation there.

Our governor thinks he's a dictator (Maybe De Santis was born in a gated community and wants his childhood to reflect on all of Florida.), everyone's crazy uncles/their families and grandparents move here (Giving the 'dictator' all the encouragement to continue. At least till the grandparents die of covid because Florida does cares about their votes but does not cares about their health.), and Donald Trump (Self-explanatory what destruction that causes).

Oklahoma same problem - pay too low for teachers, then during covid, many died, retired or were fired, Gov Stitt made schools re-open and there weren't enough teachers, so he made it legal for ANY government employee to be a teacher. That wasn't enough. Now there is a weekend seminar and ANYONE can be a teacher!! 😳 The state runs ads on local stations. Madness!! 😵
