The Bakeneko or monster cat in Japanese. Is a myth were cats that reach old age will turn into these beasts. These cats will gain the ability to speak human languages. They can shapeshift into humans and can eat things double their size. They will often eat their owners and take their place. Even If they don’t eat their owners it is said they will bring great curises on them. some of the most popular owns include poverty and their houses burning down.

That's only part of the bakeneko. Some are good and bring luck to their owners, but the melavolent version of these yokai are nekomata, but they are only good if they were taken care of well in life

Thats so interesting, your stories really have the quality of a successful channel, and I think you'll reach that in no time. I just wanted to ask - what to the Japanese suggest people do with cats that reach an old age? I know the Japanese are quite superstitious, but I really hope that this myth doesnt cause any harm to animals. Thanks for the refreshingly different and interesting content in my shorts feed!

The Maneki Neko is related to these guys. They are positive Youkai who grants wishes to us humans because they're fond of us. However due to the connection of the Bakeneko, some people attack them thinking it actually is one. The main differences between the two is that the Maneki Neko has a single bunny tail and wears a bell collar around its neck. In today's world, there's statues of the Youkai that people pray to, and each different colored has a different meaning.
