Merrifield's 50th Anniversary

It's hard to believe that what started as a small roadside stand on April 9, 1971, has grown to three locations with over 650 staff members. It's been a wonderful ride and we have thoroughly enjoyed working with all of our customers for the past five decades.

On behalf of our entire Merrifield Garden Center family, we thank you for your business and continued support over all these years. We realize that it is because of customers like you that we have been fortunate enough to be a part of this great community for so long, and help shape its beauty. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve you, and we look forward to continuing to share our love of gardening with you for many years to come.

Congratulations on 50 years of a great business! My husband and I grew up in Arlington and remember when Billie Jean and Bob were married. I do remember that Billie Jean was a very sweet girl that attended Sunday School with me in the 1950's. We have followed the growth of the company for years and were sorry to learn of Bob's death. We visit the Fair Oaks store several times a year, and it remains a beautiful place, with friendly people. Again, congratulations on this achievement.

My parents moved to Faifax in 1986 and the house they bought had a steep hill. So they hired Merrifeld to plant a garden of plants on the hill side so they didn’t have to cut the yard. My mother made several trips during her lifetime till May 2007. I still feel her presence when my wife and I shop there.
