The first scene is very powerful
Aunt Lydia still takes care of Janine even after Janine betrayed her, and Janine still takes care of Ester even after Ester betrayed her.

Aunt Lydia is such a well-rounded character with a fantastic arc.

She went from one of the most vile and hated characters to someone that we now see as mislead, but earnest in her devotion, love, and sense of morality.

She may empower a system we all find despicable, but she does it because she truly believes it is what the world needs, and she does not want to add to the suffering of the world. She really thinks her girls will find happiness in their work if they follow her orders, and that her cause is just and holy.

She's finally learned that she isn't always right and that her temper often misguided her further, and wants to consider the world from the perspective of others before committing to any judgement. Not that she's flawless in that endeavor, or that she still isn't a cog in a corrupt machine, but she really is trying, and has true good in most of her intentions now.

Aunt Lydia is such an interesting character as although she can be brutal at times, she has a somewhat warped duty of care towards the handmaids. Amazing acting 😊

Aunt Lydia is my favorite. There’s some good inside that beast of a woman. She likes Janine so much because of Janine’s pure kindness to others, something Lydia doesn’t exactly have. As much as she likes power, Lydia does feel bad for what she has done. I don’t like it when people call her completely evil. She’s a very grey character. Plus how can you not like an older woman who takes a literal stab to the back and a government beating like a absolute CHAMP.
