Trump calls the coronavirus the ‘kung flu’

Edit: Two years later now, and what a turn of events. There’s way too much to talk about in one little edit, but let’s just say that unlike my original post, I think that this speech will be the least important of any example of the complete craziness that was the pandemic, and more importantly the response to it.

I never was a fan of Trump’s rhetoric, but the “following the science” like some religious doctrine that seems to change based on merely the interests of the powers that be, and ‘science’ being bastardized into just doing whatever the CDC says is one thing.

And then of course, people who see this hypocrisy turn to saying that it’s all a scam, and refuse to take any precautions at all, and the battle about masks and vaccines turns into free will versus obedience to government, instead of simply people trying to work together to find the most efficient way to mitigate the health risks, and not overly restrict ourselves.

I don’t know what will be written in the textbooks, but I think that one way or another I will be having many conversations with my children about how those books are only reflecting one narrative.
