Who Makes The Longest Lasting Tire Shine? Meguair's, Turtle Wax, 303, Chemical Guys, Ammo, and More!

In this video we are going to take a look at who makes the longest lasting tire shine. I personally have not had much luck with these types of products lasting more than a week on a daily driven vehicle. So with this in mind I set out to find who actually makes the longest lasting tire shine. I have products in this video from Meguairs, 303, Adams, Turtle Wax, Ammo, Chemical Guys, Trinova, and ExoForma.

Some of these products are listed as tire coatings and others have tire shine written on the bottle. So from a consumer standpoint based on what is written on the bottle some of these should last a lot longer than others. With the exception of 1 product they all hold up about the same length of time regardless of what is written on the bottles. The Turtle Wax product was the worst offender of this. Just reading the long name makes you think that product will last a very long time. It doesn't...

A few years ago Turtle Wax made an aerosol that I sprayed on my truck tires, it lasted almost a year of daily driving in all types of weather, I ran it through a carwash one time and they sprayed wheel cleaner on them and it ate it off. Of course Turtle Wax pulled it off the market because an $8 can would do 2 vehicles and last a year, no money to be made I guess.

I've always liked the 303 product and its matte finish. Thank you for testing all of these. Well done! 👍

Meguiar's Endurance tire gel. Is a huge surprise. After many years of using all types of tire shine and cleaning products. Endurance is very affordable and works like no tomorrow. Your tires do not even have to be very clean but not covered with mud. You will have to apply 2 or 3 coats but it goes on so easily. I have used the same all-purpose microfiber terry towel for 2 months. It is saturated with Mequiar's Endurance tire gel. One 16-ounce bottle has enough gel to do 60 tires or more. Again, I have repeatedly used the same 8x8 microfiber towel and have never seen it contaminate or smug a tire I have already applied Endurance on often. It keeps your tires shiny, even after driving in the rain there is no noticeable loss of shine. It has a nice Gloss, not super gloss like having a mirror shine. Touch-up is a breeze if needed. I purchased 4 Mequiar's Endurance tire gel a couple weeks ago from Advanced Auto Parts on sale 2 for $12, 4 for a total of $24 minus $5 Perks Reward was $20 making it $5 per bottle. Wow! For $20 I have enough tire gel to do my 2 cars for a whole year possibly 2 years. I have used a quarter or 1/4 of a bottle applied numerous times and on several of my neighbor's vehicles. This Meguiar's Endurance works like a charm.
Oh! it smells a bit like grapes ... nice odor. I wear a Nitrile Glove as it is a slick gel when wiping it onto the tires. Yes! there are spray tire shines but they cost more and quickly run out of product.

** about Meguiar's Endurance Tire Gel **
Advanced, long-lasting formula endures even through washing and rain.
Rich gel eliminates overspray, runs, and drips providing an even and consistent high gloss shine.
Protects against UV damage and browning.
Advanced polymers provide lasting, high gloss protection keeping tires black with a rich, dark high gloss.
High gloss shine that lasts for weeks, Long-lasting, high gloss shine.

Walmart untouchable wet tire shine is by far the best for the money on tire AND plastic trim. Last for 6-7 months on the faded plastic and makes it look like new. I have been using it for 3 years and very few times.. $4.50 for the can. The best value and long lasting look. I hope that helps.

I gave the Exoforma a shot this spring. Prior to application, I deep cleaned the tires about 3x with Adams wheel/tire cleaner because I have a lot of it handy. The whole process was pretty time consuming for a tire shine application. I'll probably do it again on my next set of tires, but for most people I can see it being too much work for too little gain. The gloss didn't last very long, but dirt doesn't stick to the tire. As long as you don't apply other tire shines over it, you can wipe your hand on the tire without anything noticeable coming off after months of driving. A quick rinse with a hose or a drive through rain will clear what dust has accumulated. A quick wash with just car soap will restore the uniform deeper matte look. So, in effect, it's coated, but it's not going to be "shiny" for very long (as their ads suggest).

I’ve tried most tire dressings and Hyper Dressing is my go to. Looks great even after a maintenance wash.

New tires? Clean with mild soap, rinse with distilled or low ppm water, let fully dry. Spray Griots Ceramic 3 in 1 wax and buff, let dry. Repeat 3 times in total.

My tires rinse clean even after using them for two Canadian winter seasons. Better then any tire shine shenanigans.

I've been using Lone Star tire dressing with great results. No sling and last months.

One consideration that is never mentioned is that different rubber compounds react differently to different products.
Meguiar’s “Insane Shine” works extremely well on my Continental tires. It stays shiny, doesn’t sling badly and remains on for quite a while.
By the same token it doesn’t perform as well on the Yokohama’s on my CX 5

MAJOR WARNING: If you mistakenly spray an acidic tire cleaner on your glasses, you will etch the glass, which is irreversible. Many tire cleaners are acidic.(hydrofluoric acid)

I’m very surprised that nobody has heard of Duradressing! Best tire dressing I’ve ever seen. Higher price point but extremely higher results. Lasts for months. When you wash your vehicle, you just wash the tire as well and it remains shiny. I’ll never go back to these store bought shines. Waste of money. Thanks for the comparison!

This is just my opinion, but I personally feel that tire dressings, no matter the formulation, are really only useful on a vehicle that is washed and mildly detailed on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I’ve gotten really good results from Meguires “Endurance” tires dressing. But even still, no matter my personal mileage with the longevity of the product, I think that for most people you will see these exact results. If you like the look of black conditioned tires, you’ll need to apply regularly relative to how much you’re driving and what your driving conditions are (like you said, garage Queen Vs daily driver). As of right now, based on what I’ve seen and used, there is NO “Set it and forget it” tire dressing. They all require maintenance just like plastic dressings.

I got the perma shin and had same results. Lasted only 2-3 months. I even put it on the inside side. 2 coats.

I really like the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene Acrylic Tire Shine Spray Coating, I have used it on my work truck and get about a month out of it or 1200 miles a month, but what I really LOVE about it is, I use this on all the plastic trim and it does an amazing job with keeping it black and a nice satin sheen.
