Tackling climate change on the Island of Guernsey

We went to visit the Ladies' College in Guernsey to learn about how they're tackling climate change and working towards a sustainable future for their island.

Located in the Channel Islands, Guernsey is highly vulnerable to climate change, with rising sea levels and unique biodiversity concerns. Since 2019, these students have been part of the IRIS Carbon Researchers project, sparking a range of local environmental initiatives.

From reducing their school’s carbon footprint and cutting down food waste to monitoring air quality and fostering biodiversity, these students are making a huge difference!

Their work has gained attention from local leaders and is empowering young environmentalists to shape the island’s future. This video showcases how student-led projects are not only driving real change but also giving young people a sense of agency in the fight against climate change. 🌿
