Education and government within the colonies had a firm foundation in the beliefs and practices of the various Christian groups. The leadership of these early colonial Christians embedded the beliefs that would ensure a passing of their faith from generation to generation. Much of what we have included in our educational set up and government practices, like the separation of church and state, can be traced back to the Christians of the early colonies. Christianity would also play a large role in the conversion of many Natives and Native tribes, and it would also play an integral part in the establishment and practices of slavery.
