Social Distancing Gone as Brits Flock to Beaches

Bournemouth council had to issue a major incident after crowds descended on the beaches due to the suprising warm weather. Brighton was also affected by the numbers that turned up. Councils have been at breaking point in their attempts to turn people away or monitor the situation when members of the public turn up.

Well folks, this is the public response/behaviour after seeing those in power take the piss for almost a year.
They see Johnson's government dk what they want to get what they want - this behaviour is enabling people to also just behave in the way they see fit - no collective responsibility, no ownership and chaos. It perfectly reflects and represents UK society at the moment.

This is the country that thinks it can handle things "better on their own".

Perhaps they all decided to drive down to Bournemouth to test their eyesight.

This is the same "British common sense" that gave us Brexit and Boris Johnson

This is just sad. Like any other display of mass stupidity...

For our Italian neighbours 👍👍 - very impressive. Of course we all want to see more tourists enjoy beautiful Italy but life is more important than money.
Stay safe! 🙏

The reduction in the social distancing rule, from 2m to 1m isn't useful at all as well, people will effectively believe 1m is so close as not to bother paying attention to distance between others at all.

I live in Bournemouth and I can say the vast majority of people come from outside the area. The A 35 was blocked coming in from an Easterly direction. It will get worse here in Bournemouth.

Venice images - nice.
Respect to the Italians for handling lockdown so much more sensibly.

Second wave

Soaking sun like leeches
Screaming in delight
Crowding Britain’s beaches
With not a mask in sight
People are defying
Instinctively they bathe
Unknowingly each trying
To catch the second wave

Did you know that the word 'Bournemouth' is actually from the old Norse meaning 'Town full of bellends.'

I don't understand the appeal of a beach like that in 'normal' circumstances...

Why don't the councils close the beaches? Here in Spain they do, if this sort of thing happens.

Announcing the easing of the lockdown and stopping the daily briefings gave the wrong signal, plus many returning to work on Monday.

Bournemouth was chaos. Half a million turned up yesterday and with everything closed and nowhere to park ended up kettled on the beach. Angry after 3 to five hours of stuck in traffic they fought amongst themselves mainly. Threw rubbish into gardens. Parked on pavements, in driveways and sometimes just stopped in in the road and got out. The council was in full force fighting this and locals doing auto crime had a complete field day, so many people will be going back with a £70 parking fine a broken into car, a section five, and a helping of covid.I've seen right wing youtubers telling people to come down here and dump rubbish. Locals are calling on their mp's for something to be done. Busiest I've seen in 40 years.
