People who say stuff like "medicine is not the answer, God is the answer" remind me of that idiom about the guy who is in a flood, refuses several rescues, because God will save him, and then ends up dying, asking God why didn't God save him, and being told "what do you mean? I sent you several rescues!"

And remember, everyone. You don't need parents THIS bad for them to qualify as bad. If they have hurt you physically or mentally more than necessary, they are bad parents. Many things count as abuse. Spanking (belt or no belt, ) unnecessary yelling over mistakes, physical or emotional neglect, poor education, lack of acceptance, overly controlling, overly protective, not protective enough, and more. The only thing they need to do is make you unhappy. If you believe their actions against you are unjust and have impacted your life negatively, they have failed as a parent.

I HATE the whole culture around not taking medication because “god will heal you if you’re faithful” . I’m 28 years old and was just diagnosed with ADHD and autism last week, Not to mention the depression and the anxiety that I was diagnosed with a few years back on top of a couple chronic illnesses. All of which I need medication for and all of which I was shamed for taking medication for for one reason or another. If I hadn’t been in therapy for a few years before I was open about taking medication I probably would’ve stopped and it probably would’ve killed me. Shaming people for taking medication literally kills people!

My mom side of the family is not letting me use my ADHD medication, their excuse is that “i will get addicted to pills”
When i asked how will I get better if i don't take my meds, they really deadass said, “just convince yourself that it's not real and it will eventually go away”
