What Is Motion Sickness?

We've all felt that ping of nausea when riding in the back seat of a crazy driver's car or on board a ship on a wild sea but what exactly is happening when you feel motion sickness?

I'm going to be 100% honest, no exaggeration or egotistical fabrications; I have never in my life felt motion sick. I have never felt dizzy from the visual spinning of a theme park ride nor have I been sick when I enjoy a fair ride that spins upside down. Is this normal for some people or is this a minor problem that would be considered abnormal?
