Recently resurfaced commercials reveal Cartoon Network taking a jab at Nickelodeon. Both Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon have a longtime rivalry in family entertainment, which led to some interesting crossover bumpers over the years. Which company did it better?

Cartoon Network invaded Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon called Cartoon Network as "Ordinary Toons". Throughout the 2000s, it seems like this competition was in full swing! After the bumpers started spreading around online this year, animation legend Craig McCracken (The Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home, Kid Cosmic) revealed something about them...

There's only one real winner here 👀

Even though Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon are bitter rivals, I still remember the time when Cartoon Network actually posted a tweet paying tribute to Stephen Hillenburg when he passed away back in 2018.

Just the fact that CN got their actual characters with their actual voice actors with good animation, AND being self aware of the fact they’re on the wrong channel, I think it’s clear who’s the winner on trash talking

No one is going to mention Disney?

During that longest day of summer special on Phineas and Ferb, when they got stranded on that island, Phineas was frantically trying to find something to help him get everyone off the island. While digging in the sand, he pops up with a yellow sponge and a pink starfish, trying to think of ways to use them, only to toss them aside, saying something like "Oh, that's ridiculous!"

There was also that time in 2005 when CN poked fun at the SpongeBob Where's Gary special by showing a snail crawling on the screen with a sign saying "I Love CN, " implying that Gary ran away from Nick.

Fun fact: During the premiere of the SpongeBob special "Have You Seen This Snail, " during the airing of a Dexter's Lab episode that same exact time, a snail looking like Gary slowly crept onto the scene for a few minutes with a sign saying "I Love CN"

Should be a clip on YouTube.

I remember watching cartoons on Friday night as a kid, flipping back and forth between Nick and Cartoon Network, deciding which cartoon I'd rather watch at the time...

Nick had a glow up during the late 90s to the early 2010s now they had a glow down..

I could imagine if they were still doing this in the modern day. It probably wouldn’t be as fun or taken too seriously nowadays

Let's get this straight
Nick: says they are better
CN: literally invades nick's channel and destroys them completely
yeah i think i know who did it better

Nickelodeon’s jabs were too mean spirited and on-the-nose, while Cartoon Networks were more subtle and light hearted. Still, their rivalry was fantastic nonetheless

I can only image this being finally settled in a crossover game.

I missed the good old days when both Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network had a variety of shows.

Dexter Vs. Jimmy Neutron remains one of the greatest crossovers/matchups to never happen

It's just like Sega was advertising the Sega genesis and using the "Sega genesis does what Nintendon't" to make fun of Nintendo

Nickelodeon: exists

Cartoon Network: I’m about to end this whole network’s career

I'm surprised CN was even allowed to air the ad.

They probably hacked Nick.

Who you think will win?
Shaggy using 100% of his power
Or
One Ed with a pebble in his shoe

Their rivalry was so much fun. I can't say they are much of a rival now since they don't have those types of commercials anymore.

The rivalry between Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon is equivalent to Coca Cola and Pepsi battle each other on which soda brand is better.
