I just got back into magic via arena. I have been using YouTube to find out about cards and decks.
I really think this is the best channel on YouTube for this.
Congrats.

Jerry was just trying to tell you it's Arc Spitter — it spits, not splits. (Also, creative probably decided that without a Thompson, there's no tommy gun.)

I don't play standard anymore but I still tune in for this list every season. Thanks Dev for keeping me in the know. Love you brotha.

Glittering Stockpile's Treasure typing interacts with Goldspan Dragon in a niche way. Turn 3 Stockpile, turn 4 Goldspan, attack and make a treasure.

Then on turn 5, unlike typical Treasure ramp, you still have the Treasure you used to get Goldspan on the board. If you choose to sacrifice your Glittering Stockpile on Turn 5, you have access to EIGHT mana pre-combat on turn 5 with 4 lands in play (7 mana without sactificing it, ofc). Or you have access to 10 mana in your second main phase.

Those two mana breakpoints get you access to two very fun spells far earlier than you should: Magma Opus and Explosive Singularity. Both of those spells likely setting you up for a win shortly after.

If you were unfortunate enough to hit your 5th land drop on turn 5, you'd have access to 9 mana which gets you a hasty The Terrasque. Kill a creature on attack and swing in for 14. Not bad.

I think people vastly underestimate how good conniving and shield counters is gonna be. People scoffed at the explore mechanic too but that ended up being an actual deck for quite some time.

Just got home from a pre-release event, and so far my “sleeper card”/favorite card so far in the new set: Mysterious Limousine. The cards effect allows you to exile one of your own creatures when it’s crewed, and then swap it out for an opponents creature when it attacks, so you can keep stacking ETB effects with the creatures you exile and bring back in the same round with it. Just gotta find a way to keep the Limo from dying.

It definitely says something about the current level of creatures when a 6 CMC 5/5 Flyer that ETB draws a card and makes a 1/1 token while also having psuedo removal protection and future card draw promise on attacks is a "sleeper". =P

That Brokeback Mountain reference was wonderful.

I honestly love the power level of the commons and uncommons in this set

@Dev Don't forget that Ledger Shredder also triggers off the opponents second spell each turn. Not that it is a guarantee or you should count on it, but in aggro matchups that guy can get huge

Dev I come here for all of it, but mostly because you don't just ignore half the cards in a set. I have been really high on stimulus package and you're the first content creator to mention it positively (that I've seen).

I can get behind some of the high picks...
Halo Fountain is to be played with Vehicles, really. you can tap your entire board to crew the same "Crew 1 vehicle" then untap those for value with Halo fountain and do whatever you want.... really.

People is disregarding this card as if tapping your dudes was hard... man, there's a crapton of vehicles in standard.... this small card could simply be what finally puts vehicles somewhere near playable in constructed.

Great job on the list you’re exactly right some of those cards are amazing this is a neat said when you dive deeper because of the three color interaction smoothing wizards of the coast is doing now that 8 to 10 sets have treasure tokens

hell yes...best part of a new standard set besides the cards themselves is Devs top 10 videos. great tradition!!

You are completely correct about even the score. People like CGB are talking bad about it now, but they will inevitably be putting 1-2 copies in their UW control decks. Can’t wait for this card.

You should do the 1 chip challenge.

Also go back and revisit how your previous sleepers did. Like 2-3 years ago.

The moon in the painting behind you spent a good deal of time doing a personal halo impression for you.

A card that I think got kinda awesome with Capenna is Phylath, World Scluptor. If you can afford playing enough basic lands, it is pretty awesome with Devilish Valet or Jinnie Fea. It will often put like four bodies on the board in one body which is better than most enablers. It is also just naturally good with other Alliance cards, and it is no joke with Cabaretti charm giving your entire team +1/+1 and trample on the next turn.

I think you nailed the list as always Dev! Stimulus Package will definitely creep into many Standard Treasure decks, too good!💯👌🏼
